Prophecy Update 2013-09-15

-For today’s update, please be patient with me, as I sort through, and try to make sense of, the astonishing developments concerning Syria. -For the benefit of those who may not have been following the breaking news, seemingly by the hour, I’ll attempt to bring you up to speed. -We’re going to start with Monday, September 9th, with what was arguably a gaff on the part of the Secretary of State John Kerry in London.

Responding to a question about averting a military strike, Kerry said, “Sure. He could turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community in the next week. Turn it over, all of it, without delay, and allow a full and total accounting for that. But he isn’t about to do it, and it can’t be done, obviously.” Then, when Russia and Syria took it and ran with it, Kerry suggested that he had been negotiating it with his Russian counterpart all along.

-Then on Tuesday, September 10th, the President of the United States addressed the nation regarding whether or not we would strike Syria.

The Wall Street Journal, in response to the President’s address, published the headline reading; Obama Holds Fire on Syria, Waits on Russia Plan, on Wednesday, September 11th. Here are a couple of excerpts, “President Barack Obama told Americans Tuesday he would pursue a newly energized diplomatic course to try to resolve the standoff with Syria, but he insisted that the U.S. must conduct military strikes, if needed, in response to the Assad regime's alleged use of chemical weapons. Mr. Obama said in a televised address that he asked Congress to postpone a vote on a resolution to authorize military force, which he looked likely to lose. Instead he said he would reserve the option of military strikes while pursuing a Russian proposal for Syria to hand over its chemical weapons under an international agreement. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324549004579067002690675662.html

-This brings us to Wednesday, the 12th anniversary of that somber day on 9/11, in 2001, but the headlines were riddled with Putin’s Russia.

Russia shows U.S. its plan for Syrian chemical weapons Russian Proposal Could Offer Obama Escape From Bind Putin's proposal: Serious diplomacy or just making trouble? Putin Sets New Condition on Syrian Chemical Weapons Plan Putin: Syria chem arms handover will work only if US calls off strike White House puts Syria onus on Putin after Russian president pressures US in Taking Lead in Syria Talks, Russia Works to Preserve Assad Regime Privately, UN talks begin on Syria chemical arms ‘Russia to sell Iran anti-aircraft system, nuclear reactor’

Then on Thursday, September 12th we woke to the news that Putin had something to say to directly to the Americans concerning SyriaIt was actually published on 9/11 bearing the title, “A Plea for Caution From Russia” What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria, by Vladimir V. Putin. Here’s some of what the Russian President had to say; “RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies. …The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, will result in more innocent victims and escalation, potentially spreading the conflict far beyond Syria’s borders. …I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/12/opinion/putin-plea-for-caution-from-russia-on-syria.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

-Maybe it’s just me, but with each passing day this is starting to smell more and more like the prophecy in Ezekiel thirty-eight and thirty-nine. -The reason I say that is because at best, there is this very ambiguous mention of what some believe is the United States in Ezekiel 38:13. -If this is referring to the U.S., then we, along with the U.K. and Saudi Arabia, will only question the Russian Iranian led attack against Israel.

-Here’s the bottom line, I am personally finding it increasingly difficult to dismiss all that’s happening as not being the beginning of the end. -Here’s why, the conspicuous absence of Syria and Israel’s neighbor’s in Ezekiel 38 seem to fit with Isaiah 17 and Psalm 83 happening first. -Let me hasten to say, I in no way wish to come off as having it all figured out, but I am in good company with this scenario, at this juncture.

That said, I’d like to recommend two such prophecy teachers that I’m in good company with, one of which is Joel Rosenberg, and his teaching as a guest speaker at Topeka Bible Church this last Sunday, September 8th. http://www.discovertbc.com/services/sunday/sermons/4844-the-mideast-and-the-bible

The other prophecy teacher I’d like to recommend is Amir Tsarfati at who was a guest speaker at David Jeremiah’s Church also last Sunday, September 8th. http://player.vimeo.com/video/74142910

In closing, I’ll share with you a quote from Sir Isaac Newton. “About the times of the End, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the prophecies, and insist upon their literal interpretation, in the midst of much clamor and opposition.” -Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1747)
